About Valarie Vaughn, N.D.

Dr. Valarie V. Vaughn is a board-certified naturopathic doctor and a licensed clinical laboratory scientist. Before starting her private practice, Dr. Vaughn completed over 400 hours precepting with healthcare professionals including naturopathic doctors, medical doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists/herbalists, and osteopathic doctors specializing in cardiovascular/pulmonary medicine, immune enhancement, traumatic brain injuries, cancer support, transgender medicine, addictions, and pain management.

Dr. Vaughn’s clinical focus is on utilizing integrative medicine to help strengthen and support the innate self-healing potential. She has extensive knowledge and training in basic medical sciences, physical medicine, bodywork (Sotai, Shiatsu), botanical medicine, homeopathy, detoxification, recall healing, ozone therapies, low energy neurofeedback (LENS), biotherapeutic drainage, nutrition, acupuncture, meditation, Qi gong, T’ai chi, pharmacology, and lifestyle counseling. She and another Naturopathic Doctor developed Neuroneedling, a therapy that combines LENS Neurofeedback with scalp acupuncture for the treatment of a wide variety of neurological conditions. She is very experienced working with people with chronic pain, gastrointestinal illnesses, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, autoimmune disease, neurological disorders, infectious diseases, and hormonal imbalances.

Dr. Vaughn believes that it’s essential to identify and treat the root cause(s) of symptoms to allow the innate healing mechanisms inherent within the mind, body, and spirit to regain optimal function and balance. She encourages patients to engage in their care, while she strives to educate and empower patients with the information they need to make informed healthcare decisions that align with their values and lifestyle.

Dr. Vaughn volunteered through the Helping Other People Everywhere (HOPE) organization at a clinic serving people with HIV and AIDS in Abidjan, Ivory Coast (West Africa). While she was in medical school, she supported the Food As Medicine Everyday (FAME) program that offered classes in nutrition and practical skills for preparing healthy meals to the residents of Portland, Oregon. She also enjoyed tutoring Naturopathic and Classical Chinese Medicine students in becoming independent and resourceful, life-long learners. She also enjoyed teaching Tai Chi and meditation classes for people in chronic pain.

Dr. Vaughn earned a BA in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and an emphasis in Microbiology from Sonoma State University and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Masters in Oriental Medicine from the National College of Natural Medicine. She is also a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist with extensive experience in Microbiology and stem cell therapies for the treatment of blood and bone marrow cancers. She has advanced training in Ozone therapies, Recall Healing, and LENS Neurofeedback. She is a member of the California Naturopathic Doctors Association and the American Academy of Ozonotherapy.

When she isn’t working, Dr. Vaughn enjoys spending time in Nature, traveling, cooking, reading, attending conferences, and spending time with family, friends, and her dog.
